About BRS
Judgement,not templates
BRS is a specialist insurance and risk advisory firm working with SME, mid-market and corporate businesses across Australia. Good outcomes come from doing the analysis and using judgement — not from templates, and not from chasing last year's price down.
The practice
Scale where
it counts
Mark Finn, Nell Brescia and Lauren Rahiman are the cornerstone of the practice — 78 years of advising between them, and the people who do the work rather than the people who win it. Behind them sits the support to deliver on what we promise.
And behind that sits Insurance Advisernet, one of the largest broking networks in the country. That gives us the market access, the placement authority and the systems a corporate broker takes for granted. What it doesn't give us is the layers — the four names between you and whoever actually understands your business.
BRS is also a joint venture with Bentleys NSW, part of a national accounting and advisory group.
Founder & principal
Mark Finn
A Fellow of ANZIIF with more than three decades across the Australian general insurance market. Mark has held senior leadership roles within various broking firms, founded and run advisory practices, and has been directly involved in the design, placement and long-term management of complex programmes across property, casualty, professional risks, construction and workers compensation.
He has worked in broking, in claims, in compliance and licensing, and has set up and run underwriting agencies. Put simply: he has seen how this works from the insurer's side of the table as well as the broker's, which is why he knows what an underwriter will and won't move on.
How we engage
You'll always
know why
Every engagement starts with understanding how the business makes its money, what it has committed to, and where it's trying to get to.
The programme is then built around what could actually go wrong and what the business could absorb if it did. That's what makes the cover the right size, at a cost that makes sense, and able to grow with you.
You get advice you can act on rather than a technical document you have to decode. You'll always know how we reached a view, what we've covered, what we've deliberately left, and why. Where risk can be reduced rather than insured, we'd rather reduce it — it's cheaper, and it makes the claim easier if one comes.
The aim is simple enough. Cover that was well reasoned, well placed, and that stands up — commercially, practically, and to anyone who asks how it was arrived at.
